Filter before you report
A first clash run between MEP and structure on a single floor can return thousands of hits. Most are duplicates, insulation tolerances or elements that will move anyway. Set tolerances per trade pair and group duplicate hits before anything reaches the coordination meeting, which is how our MEP shop drawings and BIM coordination team prepares every model.
Group by location and responsibility
Group clashes by level and zone, then by trade pair (duct vs. beam, sprinkler vs. duct, conduit vs. pipe). Assign each group to the trade expected to move. This turns a list of hits into a list of decisions.
Show the issue, not just the ID
Every reported clash should include a screenshot, grid location, elevation and the elements involved. Coordinators should be able to understand the issue without opening the model.
Track resolution between runs
Keep status — new, active, resolved, approved — between clash runs so the team can see progress week to week, and so resolved issues don't reappear unnoticed before shop drawings are issued.
